Our Story

Oliver Perry Jenkins opened OP Jenkins Furniture Store in 1907. He built his furniture business on honesty, hard work, and family values. The furniture store prospered through the Great Depression, World War I, World War II, and many recessions, all while remaining in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The store has remained in the family since 1907. OP’s son-in-law, EJ Sherwood, began managing the business in 1935 and managed it until his son, Bobby Sherwood, took over in 1963. Today, the fourth generation, Bobby’s son-in-law and daughter, Terry and Meg Troutman, operate OP Jenkins Furniture and Design with their son-in-law, Brett Drummey.

Today, the family-run furniture and design company’s 40,000-square-foot location is a landmark in the heart of downtown Knoxville. OP Jenkins’ family believes they would not be who they are today without the hard work and dedication of their team. OP Jenkins’ large team of interior designers and a wide variety of furniture makes the store a unique shopping experience that’s sure to delight.

Our Knoxville location has four floors of unique and stylish furniture and accessories, an experienced team of interior designers, and professional furniture delivery services. Stop by today to see our store, meet our designers, and discover something perfect for your home.

In addition to the original Knoxville location, OP Jenkins has opened a thriving design boutique expansion in Nashville, Tennessee. With two large showrooms and talented staff, OP Jenkins has grown but still maintains the same philosophy: It’s all about the people.

The newest expansion in Franklin, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville, doubled in size in Spring of 2019, expanding their showroom space and adding new members to their interior design staff.  The team in Franklin works closely with the Knoxville location, and they are pleased to offer the same full design-to-delivery services that OP Jenkins has always been proud to deliver.
